A note from Kelly: These two beautiful dogs are ADOPTED AND HAVE FOUND THEIR FOREVER HOMES. But there are still many more that need love and security. Please contact Lucky Pup Rescue of Kennebunkport, Maine for further details. Before any adoptions can happen you must complete an adoption application.

Hutchy!

Good morning!   It is Thursday and we have made it two full days without Hutch.   My little one misses him terribly and I get a bit dewy eyed myself thinking about him.

His new foster home is saying that he is doing great and that he is a good boy!   YEAH!!!! (Thanks M&K for letting us know)    It is VERY hard getting so emotionally attached and then having to let them go.

Thanks to everyone for reading their blog and supporting these two great dogs.   REMEMBER there are many more lonely souls out their being abandoned and abused everyday.

A big thanks to Lucky Pup Rescue for doing what you do!!!!!

If I get any news on Starsky and Hutch I will let you all know.

A Time for Goodbyes :(

My boy Starsky left us this weekend for a new forster home.    What a brave boy he was......(honestly he didn't even seem to notice the difference)   Driving home the familar ache of goodbye sang its song in MY heart.   The car seemed empty without him.

As we entered the house, Hutch ran to the door and looked right past me as if to greet Starsky.     That was the extent of his looking.   He has not seemed sad or depressed.   I was expecting him to not eat...or something...(When my Golden passed, our little dog wouldn't eat for 3 days).

The first night without Starsky, Hutch didn't cry once.    I guess life does go on.....

Hutch has been wonderful on our walks.   He no longer pulls on his leash (unless we see a squirril :)   Matrix and Hutch have been tearing around the house as if it is the grand prix.....

Friday! Whoo hooooooo!

We tried to get in a few extra walks today because it is going to rain again over the weekend and the boys do not care for the rain.....

Starsky and I had some quality time together and I have found the one on one sessions seem to really help him :o)   BOTH of these poor dogs are so lacking in the receiving end of affection and it is beautiful to see the appreciation in both of them when they get it.

Starsky and Hutch have learned to "sit" and "shake".   I am now working on the "lay down".    They are fast learners and really aim to please.

Starksy did FABULOUS today with his business......Hutch only had several accidents.    Both times I blame myself because I did not have him isolated to his areas or keep my eye on him.

They have only been with us for a short several weeks and we know that their time here in our home will be ending soon.  All of our hearts ache knowing that they will be going on to new homes and friends but we sure do feel blessed that we had them for the time that we did.   They truly are great boys :)

What a week :)  !

IMPORTANT NOTE FROM KELLY!!!     First and foremost......thank you to all you doggie lovers out there that have sent me emails telling how much you love reading the Starsky and Hutch Blog.......  Please know that I have read every one but due to kids, dogs, and life, it may take me awhile to return your emails and say "hey" to all of you :)     To answer the big question that everyone seemed to ask....YES I saw the Oprah show on puppy mills.....She did a great job, and my two cents is that even if you cannot adopt or foster a dog that has been rescued, please please donate to the cause....One of my favorite Rescue groups is Lucky Pup Rescue out of Kennebunkport Maine.......These types of rescue groups are NOT FOR PROFIT and they need donations from animal lovers like you all to be able to continue to do what they do  a and save many of these beautiful animals.....  ***ok stepping off of the soapbox***...

Starsky and Hutch are doing great!   They pretty much kennel up now when asked (I still give them a treat when they do it though, 'cause they are so cute)    Hutch still has potty issues but the boy is doing MUCH better with that and now looks to me when he potty's outside.....He reminds me of a little boy....

They love praise and doing what you want.....they just need to figure out what it is you want.    Some days when it seems an uphill battle I have to remind myself that these dogs are from the streets and like children, they need loving, positive discipline and guidance.

Hutch and my little girl are still best of buddy's......We have learned that she is allergic and sadly we cannot foster them anymore :(    and there are times in the day we send her upstairs.   When he hears her he barks and cries at the bottom of the stairs......We are keeping our fingers crossed that he goes to a home with children (we are starting to think that HE thinks he is a kid also)

What is it about Monday's.......?

WHEW!!!  7:00 pm I am sitting in my living room surrounded by shredded paper,  floors that need to be swept, a couple of shirts, blankets, pillows, toys and a McDonald's cup (little confused because I don't know where that came from since it was NOT on tonights menu).  All "stuff" collected and strewn around the room by four dogs and three kids... and just having a moment of quiet......For those of you who are Moms (no offense dad's) you know what I am talking about. :)

The two youngest are upstairs and the oldest is sitting quietly next to me.    Starsky and Hutch are in their kennel and the two other little dogs  are getting ready to sleep.    This is as good as quiet gets until 9:00 pm when everyone is sleeping.

I probably SHOULD be picking this mess up, but figured I would write a bit first.  After all it IS Monday :)

After dinner it is play time in the house for the dogs.......we have a pretty large downstairs and when they get to running and chasing each other....all you hear is banging, scraping, sliding.  It is pretty funny to watch.  I do not think that they are even remotely used to hardwood floors because they are always slipping and sliding.   It is like Bambi, hitting the ice for the first time with Thumper.  All four legs completely splayed.   Big goofy grins on their face.    After a couple of days of having Starsky and Hutch, I stopped getting up to check to see what fell this time....

I was on the floor with them earlier, and Hutch right away starts playing and getting silly.    Poor Starsky, acts nervous at first.   He stands off at a distance with his head cocked to one side watching Hutch and I as if to say "What the heck is she DOING down on the floor".   It is too much for him to take....all the laughing and fooling around and eventually he joins us for a bit of fun.   He is much more reserved and as Hutch tends to get more and more excited and I have to tell him to be gentle. (those 1 year old teeth are SHARP)....Starsky stays gentle.....

I have said it before  and I certainly hope I do not become redundant...but I am going to say it again......these are such sweet dogs.   The issues that they have (ie., needing potty training is so common amoung resuce dogs) that I would hate to even call it an issue....The counter surfing has just about stopped.....

I look into those big brown eyes, see the face that wrinkles up at times when they want to ask a question and I can only hope that these beautiful, wonderful dogs, will find their forever home to be only filled with love and peace.
